The topics are chosen by individual members. We do not follow a fixed curriculum or study a specific period or school. This approach has enabled the group to explore some unusual topics and artists. Discussions are prepared and led either by individuals or a small team. No experience necessary! Some members are new to the subject while others have a longstanding interest. We all learn from each other. Occasional visits to galleries and museums are also on the agenda.
Some members have a lifelong passion for art. For others it’s a new retirement hobby. No previous experience or knowledge is required to join our group. Everyone learns from everyone.
Some notable websites
Google Arts
Just about every Museum and Art gallery now has its own website – way too many to list individually. Google Arts has done all of the hard work for you and provides a portal to over 2000 Museums and Galleries from around world. This remains our number one pick. If you find anything to beat it, please let us know.
The Arts Society
If we had our own awards ceremony, then this site would win the category for “most recommended by our members”.
There is so much to commend this site and many places where you can “jump in”. The link we have provided will take you to their series of home lectures.
National Trust
The Arts and Collections section of the National Trust website is also worth a look.
If you have any sites that you think are worth sharing please let us know.
