The group has been studying English history including politics and society including the constitution, the legal system and social policy. We have considered British Prime Ministers from Clement Attlee to Boris Johnson. Other topics have included the English Reformation, invaders and immigrants as well as protest and dissent from the 17th century onwards including the Civil War and the Levellers, Chartism and the Captain Swing Riots. Currently we are considering turning points in English history from 410 AD.
New members are always welcome and contributions are encouraged. No particular knowledge is required other than an interest in the historic context of aspects of life in England.
