The aim of the Life Sciences group is to learn about and discuss major topics in the study of human and animal life, including basic aspects of Physiology and Psychology as well as broader topics such as Evolution. We live at a time when a huge number of advances are being made in the understanding of these subjects; our goal is to try to keep abreast of some of these developments.
Group meetings generally involve presentations of about one hour duration on specific topics, followed by discussion. Presentations mostly use recorded video lectures from reputable sources, such as the Royal Institution, but we also welcome occasional talks by individual speakers. A science background is helpful but not a necessity; the aim is to present talks that are as accessible as possible to a non-specialist audience of enquiring minds.
